No events from Linux menubar

This appears to be a bug. I've tested the menubar under Ubuntu, Slowdown has tested it under Suse.
The menubar control gives all outward appearance of working - you can click on menu items which bring up child menu items. You can make menu items active or inactive, but clicking on a menu item does not create an event. It works OK under OS-X and Windows, but NOT under Linux.
