KBasic for Windows 98. Is it possible to get?

Postby VAA » Thu Oct 01, 2009 8:33 am

We started to use KBasic. But the firm have lot of old computers with Windows 98 connected with equipment in production.
There is information in internet about KBasic 1.6 that support this old OS, but all download references give new version 1.8 without support for Windows 98.
Pleas, is it possible to download old version of KBasic supported Windows 98?

Sorry, there is no version except for Windows 2000/XP and newer. It does not work on older systems due to Qt support.

Of course, Google.
I have found by Google lot of proposal to download KBasic version 1.6. But all of them are links to the same place - and where old KBasic is replaced by new with the same name "installer_kbasic_professional_windows.exe". Only size is differ: for promised v.1.6 it is 14 or 17 MB, for new v.1.8 it is 28MB. So, no legal way to get old version...

When i searched for a basic environment some time ago i found an older release of KBasic.
And i have the nasty habit to save everything
I do have KBasic version 1.7 in my collection, don't know if this version can be used on Win98.
Can place it here but only if Bernd agree with it.

to Slowdown: Thanks. But first I should ask mr. berndnoetscher:

1. Will be downgrade to 1.7 or 1.6 legal (with no warranty, of course), if the firm have bought current version 1.8?

2. If version 1.7 can work with windows 98? Sorry, I can not found this information in Google/.

It is not recommend to use very old version, because of the bugs it will contain. But you may try it.

Sorry, I understand that old version is buggy, but I still do not know, if 1.7 is OK for win98, or I should search 1.6?
