Opening KBasic IDE after installation on XP (tablet edition)

Hello Bernd,

I just installed the currently downloadable trial version of KBasic "installer_kbasic_professional_windows.exe" on my ASUS R1F tablet notebook, running WinXP Professional Tablet Editions 2002, SP3. The installation went smoothly, but the IDE fails with a MS Error, after selecting the "Trial" button, and choosing the "Help Preference".

The error message says "kbide.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". The detail says "AppName: kbide.exe", AppVer: 0.0.0.0, ModName: qtgui4.dll, ModVer 4.4.0.0, Offset 0050b56".

I installed the same binary on a computer at work with no problems (HP DC7700, WinXP SP2), so it must be specific to my machine.

Any ideas?

Looks like you found a bug, yet it sounds very strange. I will take a look at the source codes to find a solution. Please be patient.

I checked the source codes and rethought all information about, and it looks to me that the problem cannot be solved easily and is related to a Qt bug, which happens on the tablet edition of Windows XP only.

Unfortunetaly, I have no Windows XP tablet edition, so I cannot debug until the crash occurs, but I believe, it must have something to do with saving the kbasic preferences in an INI file. If you like, I will create a special edition for you printing out debug messages to track down the problem.
